✝️ Alma Sejdini, albanian – November 2021, Italy 🇮🇹💔
′Prostitution is not self-determination. Prostitutes are in the vast majority trafficked victims, raped, seized, tortured, kidnapped, deceived, drugged by force „.
These are the words of Adelina, who killed herself Saturday night. She was Albanian, kidnapped in her country at 17 years old, prostituted, survived the trafficking, had sued her exploiters and contributed to a racket that reduced women into slavery by collaborating with magistrates and law enforcement and became an activist and an activist witness in the fight against prostitution, in defense of trafficking victims.
She had never managed to obtain Italian citizenship despite her commitment, she had even suffered censorship and denigration from some fringe of feminism, from which she expected a solidarity she was fully entitled, and bitterness consumed her. Then she got sick, and she couldn’t stand despair.
In this moment of grief, of mourning, of regret for not knowing or being able to do enough, let’s remember her with her real name, Alma Sejdini, even if she chose to act publicly while preserving what her exploiters gave her, not to forgetting.
Alma we won’t forget you and we will move forward to fight and defeat the violence that marked your life and that of many like you.
