Charlotte lived in Ronkswood, Worcester in a women`s refuge and was mother of two. She used to be a „cam girl“.
Charlotte was strangled to death by Richard Bailey, age. 41. Police found her more than a week later in Bailey`s bedroom. They had met in a convenience store, Bailey got chatting to Charlotte before convincing her to come back to his home
Bailey denied killing Charlotte and said she died „accidentally“ after she asked him to choked her. The judge said „Consent does not cover any significant injury and does not cover death.“ Investigators found masses of pornography around her body and belongings throughout Bailey`s bedroom: Piles of pornographic magazines, torn our pages from magazines, photos of topless woman from the Sunday Sport newspaper, a pornographic DVD and a copy oft he Midweek Sport dated February 28.
Telephone records showed that Charlotte`s phone had been used to make Google searches for hardcore pornography after February 23 but not before that date. Bailey had slept next to Charlotte’s dead body on a number of occasions before he was tracked by police to Coventry and arrested. He told the court it did „never“ bother him to do so.
Bailey was jailed for life with a minimum of 29 years after being found of guilty of her murder. He already had several convictions for assault and violence. All of the offences of violence were perpetrated against women, and in most cases women in vulnerable situations.
