✝️ Sheila Ingold, age 36 – November 3 1987, Kansas City, Missouri, USA 🇺🇸💔
Sheila was found dead in a van on Troost Avenue, a popular trawling ground for johns.
Although DNA technology at the time was not nearly as advanced as it is today, police took samples of bodily fluids and hair found at the crime scenes. Police often used such samples to confirm the blood type of possible suspects. As the years passed, the genetic evidence was tucked away in refrigerated warehouses. Also filed away was a sample of Lorenzo Gilyard’s blood, which police had obtained in 1987 when he was suspected in the slaying of Sheila. Laboratory results at the time were inconclusive.
Gilyard raped and murdered 13 women and girls from 1977 to 1993. He was finally convicted of six counts of murder on March 16, 2007
