Rivka had lived in the area for a number of years and was known to members of the nearby Kingsbury Synagogue.
She suffered from poor health and had undergone an operation on her foot.
Rivka was murdered by her client Nicolae Patraucean, age 20, romanian.
Rivkas face and body were scored with deep and long gashes, caused by a work knife. She was also strangled and subjected to repeated beatings with a blunt object, likely to be fists.
The court was told that Patraucean had been drinking heavily in the 24 hours before the killing and had also taken cannabis, cocaine and heroin.
He was jailed for life with a minimum of 25 years.
Patrucean’s attitude to women in prostitution was illustrated in his statement to a friend:
“I killed a person … not a person, a whore.”
