✝️ Annelies Reinders, age 31 – January 21 1995, Groningen, Netherlands 🇳🇱💔
When her body was found, Annelies had been missing for 6 weeks. She had been raped and strangled with a rope around her neck. She was murdered by serial killer Willem van Eijk.
Van Eijk was the sixth and youngest child, and had five older brothers. He also had a little sister, but she unfortunately only lived to be 2 years old. The loss of her daughter caused his mother great pain. She then regularly forced him to wear girls‘ clothes and treated him like a girl. Van Eijk says he has dreamed of raping a woman and working her with a knife since childhood.
In terms of personality, he is described as a difficult and violent type. He is described by his cousin as „scary.“ She describes how as a child he used to hang frogs on the clothesline and then shoot them off with a rifle. When his uncle went hunting, he went with him only to shoot a dog supposedly „by accident.“ Others also claim that William was quite cruel to animals. It seems he tortured dogs and cats as a child.
As an adult he had a lot of guns. In addition, he always appeared threatening. He threatened violence to get his way. For example, he brought a grenade to a bar and threatened to use it to demand free beer. Whereas he acted tough with men, he was distant from women. When he was in his early 20s, he started having vivid dreams about women in which he destroyed women by cutting open their stomachs. In audio recordings he can be heard saying that he wanted to be the boss of women. She had to be subordinate to him.
In 1974 Van Eijk was initially sentenced to 20 years in prison for two murders, but on appeal he was sentenced to 18 years. As part of his sentence, he was admitted to the Van Mesdagkliniek in Groningen in 1975. Here people with narcissistic, antisocial and/or paranoid personality disorder are treated.
In 2002 the Groningen court sentenced Willem to life in prison. In prison he continued to cause problems. He was unruly. So he was transferred several times to other prisons and eventually ended up in Vught.
He died in 2019.
