Born in Buzau (Romania), Florina fell into the hands of a sex trafficking network when she was a minor. At 17, she was already being prostituted in Saarbrücken (Germany) by a Romanian couple. She fled their clutches at the end of 2018 and came to València, where she fell back into prostitution. Whoever prostituted her here, moved her at the end of 2020 to a curve of the Silla track, in the municipality of Albal. She had not even been there for a month when she was murdered.
At 5:30 p.m., Florina got into a white car under a heavy downpour. A camera captured the moment and recorded as she drove into the roads leading to the orange groves where the sexual encounters took place. After 20 minutes, the vehicle returned and sped away. That water curtain played in his favor: in the recording it is impossible to see the license plate. Three weeks later, on January 30 at nine in the morning, a hunter found Florina’s lifeless body. The autopsy revealed that she had been strangled.
Perpetrator: Jose V. R., age 60, widower and father of two children.
He worked as a salesman for his cleaning products business in Silla and, according to the young woman’s companions, he regularly used sexual services.
In the course of the investigations, police became aware of the complaint that the victim had filed against two alleged pimps when she was residing in Germany.
Florina’s story moved the Valencian society and the towns along the Silla track have said enough is enough. Albal, the municipality where Florina lived with another young Romanian woman, has taken a step forward to punish the consumption of women and has approved one of the first abolitionist ordinances in Spain.
Its mayor, Ramón Marí, of the PSOE, has proposed to prosecute johns with economic sanctions of up to 800 euros. Two men have already been sanctioned by the Local Police and no fines are planned for women. „They are alone, totally unprotected“. Moreover, advertising that promotes prostitution and sexual exploitation has been banned.
