✝️ Susan Kelly, age 38 – September 4 2000, Anfield, Liverpool, England, United Kingdom 🏴💔
Susan grew up in Litherland and dreamed of working with the disabled. After graduating from Mabel Fletcher College, she worked in a care home and behind the bar in a nightclub. She later settled down with a boyfriend and in 1982, gave birth to a boy. But just a few years later, her boyfriend was jailed for drugs supply offences – and that was when Susan’s life went downhill.
Susan was said to have had mental-health problems and had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. She would frequently go missing and become involved in violent relationships with men. Social services then took her son into care. In the years that followed, Susan got into trouble with the law, developed a drug addiction and had been known to occasionally engage in prostitution.
„In the end her mind had completely gone, she didn’t know her own name, where she lived, how old she was. She forgot her own son in the end, she could not remember anything.“
Cathy Kelly, Susan’s mother)
Susan was found dead in an alley. She had been strangled and her throat had been cut with a piece of pottery and she had been stabbed. Her nose, jaw and six of her ribs were also broken. She had suffered 29 injuries and had been left semi-naked. It was thought that a porcelain vase had been used as a weapon to attack her.
A man was tried for her murder in 2003 but acquitted.
Another man, aged 48-years-old, was later arrested for her murder in May 2010 but not charged. Another man, aged 47-years-old, was arrested for her murder in May 2012 but also not charged.
The case remains unsolved until today.
