Anne Marie was a mother of four. She had been a heroin user for a long time but managed to get clean for a couple of years. Shortly before her death she fell back in drug abuse, homelessness and prostitution.
Anne Marie was strangled to death. Altogether 62 different injures were found, with 21 to her head alone.
Anne Marie had a a history of near death experiences. One time she had been kidnapped and was able to escape the van she was captured in. Once she was rescued from a burning house and was close to a deadly heroin overdose a couple of times. Only weeks before her death she had been attacked and threatened by a taxi driver who claimed she had stolen £300 from.
Two times possible perpetrators were charged with her murder, but acquitted.
