After having been arrested multiple times by transphobic police in Cuba, (Anna) fled the country.
(Anna) first went to Russia, next Serbia, then Macedonia, and finally landed in Greece in 2017. Shortly after her arrival, (Anna) joined the Transgender Support Association and received assistance from them.
(Anna) worked as a dancer and performer. In Cuba, (Anna) had received training in classical dance and salsa.
(Anna) frequently performed at the nightclub and drag venue Koukles in Athens and also involved in prostitution.
On July 10th, 2023, (Anna)’s landlady showed up to her apartment to collect rent. Instead, she found something terrible; (Anna), dead in a pool of own blood.
(Anna) had been stabbed multiple times in the head and neck.
A 35-year-old man from Bangladesh, who was not publicly named, was spotted at her apartment and leaving covered in wounds. His fingerprints were also found at the crime scene. He was arrested for the murder.
