Julie was a promising athlete in school, winning a lot of medals. She enjoyed Karaoke nights.
Julie was murdered by Michael Sams, 59.
„He lured 18-year-old Julie Dart into his car and, threatening to stab her if she struggled, drove her south to Newark. There he stripped her, tied her to a chair and forced her to write a letter to her fiancée asking for money to be paid for her release. He then pushed her into a cell he had constructed out of timber and metal sheets. Sams went home, but his phone rang that night, alerting him to the fact that Dart had escaped. He had rigged up a trigger mechanism, which meant an escape from her cell would cause his phone to ring. Julie had smashed her way out of the cell, but there was no way out of the workshop for her. Sams rushed back to the scene and murdered Dart with a hammer. He wrapped her body in old blankets, and the next night, put her in the boot of his car and drove to a country lane near Huntingdon to dump her body in a field.“
In 1992, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in Full Sutton Prison.
He is known to be serving four life sentences
