(Cecilia)`s parents were Italian and Argentinian. Cecilia was sexually abused by a neighbor throughout the childhood, beginning at age 6. Cecilia came out as gay at age 12 and started identifying as a woman in the early 20s, at age 26 deciding to move to the United States in search of a better life. After leaving Argentina, (Cecilia) lived in Brazil and later being banned from there, (Cecilia) never divulged why.
(Cecilia) then moved to the United States, first living in Miami, where there was difficulties finding a job due to being undocumented. Within two weeks of arriving in Miami, (Cecilia) was arrested for prostitution and placed in a male jail. (Cecilia) continued to live in Miami for five years, deciding to leave after being assaulted.
(Cecilia) moved to to New York in 2003. There, (Cecilia) found the calling as an transgender and „sex work“ activist: After the release from prison, (Cecilia) participated in an addiction recovery program for 17 months. A counselor told (Cecilia) the need to find something (Cecilia) enjoyed as much as heroin; according to (Cecilia), „that came to be community and working for my community.” In 2011, (Cecilia) was granted asylum in the United States and legally changed the name the following year. (Cecilia) became a U.S. citizen in September 2022.
In April 2024 two men have been indicted for distributing the heroin and fentanyl that caused the February death of (Cecilia) The four-count indictment accuses Michael Kuilan, 44, of Brooklyn and Antonio Venti, 52, of West Babylon, New York, with supplying the drugs that killed (Cecilia).
The cause of death was “the combined effect of fentanyl, heroin, xylazine, and cocaine.”
